Forced Conversions in Britain

President Bush has repeatedly said that Islam is a religion of peace and that democracy will cure Islamic terror. Adding to the Mt. Everest-sized pile of evidence that this simply is not so, comes this wonderful little report from the U.K.:

Extremist Muslims who force vulnerable teenage girls to convert to Islam are being targeted by police, Met chief Sir Ian Blair has revealed.

Police are working with universities to clamp down on "aggressive conversions" during which girls are beaten up and forced to abandon university courses.

The Hindu Forum of Britain claims hundreds of mostly Sikh and Hindu girls have been intimidated by Muslim men who take them out on dates before terrorising them until they convert.

Sir Ian spoke about the problem at a conference organised by the forum.

A Met spokesman said: "Neighbourhood officers work with university authorities in London and we would encourage anyone targeted in this way to seek help and support and where necessary use third party reporting facilities if they do not want to contact police directly."

Ramesh Kallidai, of the Hindu Forum of Britain, said: "Some girls are petrified because they are constantly being phoned up, having their door knocked.

"One girl was beaten up on the street and others have been forced to leave university."

Britain is the oldest liberal democratic nations in Europe. Muslims living there have been exposed to the most liberal, democratic culture outside of the U.S. itself. Yet "radical Islam" is flourishing there. British Muslims are increasingly embracing jihad and Islamic terrorists, plotting and carrying out violent attacks, calling for the destruction of Western civilization and now apparently engaging in forcible conversions. The same is true throughout Western Europe, Canada and Australia. Clearly, a lack of democracy has nothing to do with Islamic terror, which leaves, of course, only Islam itself. But Mr. Bush cannot admit this since it would reduce to ashes his last, desperate justification for the Iraq debacle, and render his entire post-9/11 foreign policy a smoldering pile of ashes that only serves to start even more fires every time the wind blows.

There can be no accomodation between Islam and the West. No successful mingling. Separation and containment are the only options. Britons are beginning to realize this - but only now that they are paying the price for decades of Muslim immigration.
