Another, Shocking Surprise...

It turns out that the apparent perpetrator of the failed car bombing of New York' Times Square was NOT - despite the mainstream media' most earnest leftist wish - a white, native-born American, but a "naturalized American citizen" from Pakistan.

(CNN) -- Attorney General Eric Holder said Tuesday that the Justice Department anticipates charging Times Square bombing suspect Faisal Shahzad "with an act of terrorism," among other things.

"It is clear that this was a terrorist plot," Holder said. It could have caused "death and destruction in the heart of New York City."

Holder said the suspect has been providing useful information since his arrest Monday night.

Hours after authorities arrested the Pakistan-American in New York as he attempted to board a flight to Dubai, investigators in Pakistan seized a number of suspects in the bombing probe, a Pakistani intelligence source said Tuesday.

They arrested two or three people after raiding a house in Karachi where Shahzad is believed to have stayed during a recent visit to Pakistan, the source said.
Shahzad, 30, was arrested around 11:45 p.m. ET Monday at New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport, Holder said, and he will appear in a Manhattan federal courtroom after 2 p.m. Tuesday.

Shahzad was on board Emirates Airlines Flight 202 to Dubai, United Arab Emirates, when the plane was called to return to the gate, a law enforcement source said.

The FBI said its agents and New York detectives then arrested Shahzad "for allegedly driving a car bomb into Times Square."

that a Pakistani would be involved with a terrorist plot to kill innocent Western civilians comes as a surprise to no one who has been paying attention to world events over the past decade. But such common sense simply does not apply to those living in the ideological fortress of multicultural leftism, which is to say, the media and political elites of most Western nations, including the US. Indeed, now that the obvious truth is out, many in the media are unhappy with the facts, which don't agree with their own ideological agenda.

MSNBC host Contessa Brewer appeared on the liberal Stephanie Miller radio show on Tuesday and lamented the fact that the person arrested for the attempted Times Square bombing is a Pakistani American. She complained, "I get frustrated...There was part of me that was hoping this was not going to be anybody with ties to any kind of Islamic country." [Audio available here.]

Brewer continued, "...There are a lot of people who want to use terrorist intent to justify writing off people who believe in a certain way or come from certain countries or whose skin color is a certain way. I mean they use it as justification for really outdated bigotry."

The News live host didn't explain which ethnicity or religion she had been hoping the bomber would have been affiliated with. She did defensively mention members of a Michigan militia group arrested in March and asserted that they were "from far different backgrounds than what this guy is coming from."

That Ms Brewer hails from MSNBC, possibly the most leftwing American broadcast news network is unsurprising. But her views shouldn't be view as anomalous amongst here peers. She is only saying what many in the news media are thinking: too bad it wasn't a white guy.

Just a little thought experiment: consider what would happen to a reporter who, upon discovering that the perpetrator of a crime was white, went on the air and said she wished he was black or Arab or Muslim. How long would that reporter keep her job? Days? Hours?
