The White Serial Killer that Wasn't

Over the past few days, various US media outlets had been joyfully bubbling with eager speculation that a white serial killer was running amok targeting black men for brutal, and often, fatal attacks.

Police in Flint, Michigan, are investigating 13 stabbings resulting in five deaths since late May that they believed have been committed by one man.

Race may be a factor in the crimes: A majority of the stabbing victims are African-American and the perpetrator is described by surviving victims as a white male, Flint police said.

The attacker, described by surviving victims as muscular and around 5-foot-11 to 6-foot-2, in many cases first lured his victims to his car by appearing to have car trouble or needing directions.

The idea that the killer must be a racist was gleefully offered as a fact virtually from the first reports. Yet even from the beginning, there was a little problem with the idea these attacks were soley motivate by racial hatred: two of the victims were white. But this fact was easily ignored by a media desperate to find a white, racist killer, especially after a black man gunned down eight white co-workers in Connecticut, an act that the media tried to pin on the alleged (but never proven) racism of the victims.

Unfortunately, for the leftists in the news media, today the story departed radically from the Southern Poverty Law Center-approved script that they'd been hoping to use (in which a bad, white, right-wing, Christian was hunting black men).

Michigan authorities are filing paperwork for the extradition of the man who prosecutors say is the suspect in the stabbing attacks in three states.

Elias Abuelazam, 33, was arrested Wednesday night at the Atlanta airport as he was trying to board a flight to Israel. Abuelazam could be back in Michigan as early as Friday if he waives the extradition process. Otherwise, his return could take a couple of weeks, police said.

Abuelazam is wanted on a charge of assault with intent to murder in connection with 20 stabbings in Michigan, Ohio and Virginia. A judge in Flint, Michigan, issued the arrest warrant.

Abuelazam was trying to board a Delta Air Lines flight to Israel when he was taken into custody Wednesday night in Atlanta, police said Thursday.

Two sources said the man is an Israeli citizen who is in the United States legally. A federal law enforcement official involved in the investigation said the man was traveling on an expired Israeli passport.

Whooops! Not sure what will gall the leftists in the media more, that he's an Arab (and possibly a Muslim), or that's he's an Israeli? In any event, he's not a right-wing, white guy, so expect to see this story shuffled off the news as quickly as possible. Because, as we know, crimes are only bad and newsworthy when committed by whites against non-Whites. When the reverse is true, the media is silent.
